Amateur Poker - Sad Sad Day

August 26, 2010
This is just a quick post to say goodbye to what was once the home of many amateur poker players - South Africa. The country will no longer be allowing its citizens to play poker or gambling in general, online.

We hope people stand up to this and that this injustice is short lived. We will keep you updated through our twitter account:

My Rush Poker - New Tournament for Poker Amateurs and Pros

August 16, 2010
Poker Amateur is proud to announce a new partnership with My Rush Poker.

Earlier this year, Full Tilt revealed a much anticipated new variation of online poker. Rush Poker, as it is called, is more exciting, fast paced and typically a high adrenaline game - Rush poker changed the way online poker is played forever.

By playing this format players can see over three hundred hands an hour, 12 times more than when playing standard online poker.

Rush requires a different skill set in comparison to regular Texas hold em, where patience is not as nearly as important as it is in Rush.

Players will not need to wait to be dealt a new hand and you can therefore expect them to only play with high cards or pocket pairs - playing small cards be very dangerous and yet good to play in high value pots.

Players who get easily frustrated and play bad hands or make bad calls are less likely to make those crucial mistakes, however the skills required to know whether to raise, call or to let a hand go are still crucial to this game.

Poker Amateur gives back

September 24, 2009
Poker Amateur is growing faster than we expected. People are starting to believe that sometimes even that which looks "too good to be true", is in fact as awesome as we made it out to be.

Through us YOU CAN get $150 free to play poker on-line in not just one, but up to six different poker rooms including PartyPoker and Full Tilt Poker. Once you have signed up and you are winning (hopefully), there is also an opportunity to make money by referring people to poker-amateur.

It really is quite simple. All you have to do is:
  1. Get people to visit Poker Amateur, sign up and get their $150 for party poker.
  2. Once they have registered, received their money and started playing (we'll know when that happens) send us their poker strategy username (so we can identify them) and your party poker username - NOTE, we need their POKER STRATEGY id and your PARTY POKER id... don't confuse them. SEND TO: affiliate@poker-amateur.com
  3. We'll deposit you $10 into your PARTY POKER account for your troubles.
So, if you think Poker Amateur is great, want to see your friends playing on-line with you or would just like to earn a little bit of extra cash, then send your friends our link and we'll take care of you in return.

Bad Beats are Neat, when you're the one dishing them out :D

Poker Amateur Goes into the movie making busines

September 8, 2009
Poker Amateur has just released its first video. YAY!

The 5 minute clip is short and sweet, showing sceptics that it is a simple process to sign up and claim your free poker starting capital. Notice that there is at no point a request for your credit card details, and apart from the irritating voice which obviously has never done this before (that being me), this video should make sure that you go through the whole registration process relatively quickly.

Two things I want to focus on here that I have not gone into detail in the past. The first being the test required to get your free money for Party Poker. You do have to spend a little bit of time reading the articles. But they are really useful and are the start of your poker education. If you are committed to playing, AND WINNING, then spend the 5 minutes it will take you to read the articles... not only will you pass the test on your first go, but you'll go from Poker Amateur to Pro in no time at all if you follow the guidelines.

The second thing is identity verification. If you're still reading, I'm sure you are not one of those who have written this off as being a bunch of nonsense. Because this is a genuine offer and these organisations are giving you REAL money to play on-line, they do a random identity check. This means you may or may not get asked to submit a photo of your passport to confirm your identity. Apparently some people loose all their money and open new accounts, so in order to prevent this, the random check occurs. I had the displeasure of having to go through that process, but managed to overcome it quite quickly. QUICK ADVICE: they say they need a "scan of your id or passport", instead of doing that, just take a digital photo and send that... quick and easy.

So that all for now, enjoy the video:

Poker Amateur releases 5 new poker rooms that are giving out free bankrolls

August 23, 2009
Poker Amateur has done it again!

We now have 5 new poker rooms where you can sign up and get a minimum of $50 free to play on-line. We still recommend you start off with Party Poker if you have not already done so because it is easy to use and there are loads of easy opponents. Also, if you use this link: Party $150, you can get up to $150 free to play with. Another very important feature of this bankroll is that it is easy to release the money you win - meaning you don't have to play for ages before you can cash out your winnings.

If you already have a Party Poker account, sign up to as many of our other poker rooms as you like and they will give you free starting capital as well. Just make sure you have not had an account with them before and that you are not in one of their "banned countries"; details of which are listed at the links below:

  1. Full Tilt Poker
  2. Cake Poker
  3. Ultimate Bet Poker
  4. Absolute Poker
  5. Titan Poker

Once you're loaded on up free starting capital from these rooms as well, stay tuned for more, poker amateur is preparing another batch of sites which are ready to dish out some free bankrolls.

Poker Amateurs Get $150 Free To Play Online

August 15, 2009
At Poker Amateur we want you to start your poker career online without having to spend any money at all. Why do we care? Well, lets just say that there is a way we can both benefit from this. And just to make sure you understand, at no point will you have to deposit any money... I can not mention this enough.

Here is a step by step process to making sure that you go from reading this post to playing online, in the shortest possible time frame.
  1. Click on this link to go to a site which is like heaven for poker amateurs.
  2. Once there, register, check your e-mail and validate you account.
  3. You will now be given an option of choosing one of three different strategies, each one comes with its own little test, so choose the Sit & Go / Tournaments option because it comes with the least amount to read and the easiest test.
  4. Read the three articles provided.
  5. *very important* Download this PDF file and use it to pass the test. You will find that for 80% of the questions you can work out the answer from the tables in the document.
  6. You passed the test? Hooray! If not, don't panic, you have 5 tries... we are all poker amateurs after all.
  7. After passing the test, be very careful to follow the instructions carefully and to set up an account on Party Poker the way they tell you to - this is where it can all go wrong and you'll end up without your free money.
  8. Wait up to 24 hours and the next time you log in, you'll have your free money to play poker online. Good luck!
